Annotation

The song "O.D.H.G.A.B.F.E." (Metal Blade Records # 3984-14345-2) addressed police violence, making a minor reference to the protests at Kent State and outside the Democratic National Convention in Chicago (1968). The Groove Metal group formed in 1994 in Richmond, Virginia, under the name Burn the Priest. Written by Randy Blythe, the title stood for Officer Dickhead Gets a Black Fucking Eye. Blythe explained the song in an interview with Revolver Magazine: "one time I was out in the Bay Area, in San Francisco...a bunch of us were squatting...But the cops came and busted in and threw us in a paddy wagon...then 5 or 6 cops just started kicking the living shit out of me. I was so scared...then, when they yanked me up, I remember looking at one female officer....reading her name...and saying, I remember you. I remember your face. I'm gonna find you". So the narrator described getting beaten up by the San Francisco police: "face down on the cold floor...feel youth crushed". He then mentioned several events involving police or army violence: "Auschwitz, Kent State, Chi-Town 68, Tianamen, Waco".
