Annotation — North Vietnamese Songs

Japanese released record, split into two halves. The first side is North Vietnamese patriotic songs in the Nhạc đỏ ("Red Music") genre - which developed at the beginning of the 20th century, containing elements of Western Classical Music, while lyrically focusing on socialism and independence, as well as containing anti-imperialist / colonialist sentiment. It's also influenced by revolutionary music from China and the USSR. Some also contained elements of Vietnamese Folk Music. The 7" EP was part of series, with a few focused on Vietnam, including this (Center Record # CLS-11). Japanese choir (Chuo Gasshodan), founded 10 February 1948 in Tokyo by Akiko Seki as the music section of the Japan Young Communist League; the central choir of the utagoe (Singing Voice of Japan) movement, based at the Music Center in Shinjuku, Tokyo from 1951, performing and recording for Japanese Communist Party events until 1973.
