Letter From Home, A (Penny, Hank) Tacoma, Washington, USA. Country. Comedy recitation about a letter to a buddy in Vietnam about his wife having a fun time at home with other men. Originally released by Hank Penny in 1955 for the Korean War. Other Vietnam versions of the song by Joe Medwick, Johnny Bond, Charlie Wiggs, and Dick Bruce. Classified as a "jody" song?? Billboard, 30 July 1955: "This is a recitation...Penny reads a letter to a buddy in Korea, wherein he relates the happenings back home - his wife's gay behavior etc. It might be distressing to the buddy, but it's loaded with yocks for the listener with a slight touch of sadism" (1)
