Annotation — North Vietnamese Songs
Released in Beijing, China, on China Record Company (# M-640), this release, as seen in the title, included songs about various countries and conflicts, in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. While this is sung in Chinese, and part of Chinese Music genre, it is musically similar to the Vietnamese Nhạc đỏ ("Red Music") genre, thus included here as a cultural comparison. Tracks related to the Vietnam War included the more generic titles "Anti-Imperialist March of the Asian, African and Latin Peoples", and "Song of Wind and Fire (Dedicated to the Struggling Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America)". Two songs specifically dealt with the Vietnam conflict: "Green Forest - Green Ocean (Dedicated to the Struggling South Vietnamese People)", and "South Vietnam Is a Volcano". Two songs specifically attacked the US, the final one which referenced Civil Rights: "Anti-US Demonstration of Chinese People", and "The American Negroes Want Freedom (Dedicated to Our Brothers, the American Negro People)".
