About the artist
Richard Ryan, born 1946, Irish poet and diplomat educated in Dublin; published "Ledges" (Dolmen, 1970) and "Ravenswood" (Dolmen, 1973), taught at the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota (1970-71), joined the Irish diplomatic service in 1974 and served as ambassador to Korea, Japan, Spain, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands and as Permanent Representative to the UN (1998-2005).
