About the artist
The Charades were an R&B vocal group put together in 1966 by Cuba Gooding Sr. (born 27 April 1944 in Harlem; died 20 April 2017 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles), who led the group before fronting The Main Ingredient from 1971; the other members were Howard Fowles, George Staley and James T. Mack. Their Mercury-era masters of 1965 sat unissued until 1973, when "Darling Believe Him" b/w "You Better Believe It" (written by Rose Marie McCoy) appeared on Harlem Hitparade (HHP-5009, Pickwick).
