Annotation

The song "Welcome Back Home" (Columbia Records # CG 30127), written by Skip Battin who took over on bass for the Byrds from John York in 1969, expressed concern for the soldiers returning home to the US - a theme usually found in post-Vietnam war songs. Battin said in a 1979 interview with Johnny Rogan, in the book The Byrds: Timeless Flight Revisited (p. 315) that "I was personally touched by the Vietnam situation, and my feelings about it came out in that song. I had a high school friend who died out there and I guess my thoughts were on him at the time". (1) Thanks koeeoaddi_there
