The song "Vietnam" (Munich Records # MRCD 197) by Johnny Dowd - American, alternative country singer. Well the lyrics are pretty much inaudible, to the background of atmospheric guitars and helicopter sound effects. Served in the US army in the 1960s, stationed in Germany. In an interview, he spoke about the Vietnam, 60s era:it was a weird time, during the Vietnam era. It was a scary time for me, I was fortunate that I didn't go to Vietnam... It was in a period when everything was going on in America. People were getting assassinated, hippies, drugs and the draft....I was in Berlin for a year and a half, so I pretty much spent my military service under the influence of various hallucinogens. So my military experience was sort of military plus some bizarre LSD things". (1)

Johnny Dowd (born 29 March 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American alternative country singer, songwriter and guitarist, long resident in Ithaca, New York, who ran a moving company for years before releasing his first album at forty-eight; his gothic, blackly comic and deliberately abrasive songwriting has drawn persistent comparison with Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Captain Beefheart across nineteen studio albums from 'Wrong Side of Memphis' (1997) onwards.
