A 1960s/70s blues singer, well-known for his collaborations with Allen Toussaint, under the name .... He founded the record label House of Orange in Nashville, Tennessee. The song "V.C. Blues" (Sound Stage 7 # 2573) took the perspective of a soldier in Vietnam, speaking to his loved ones back home. He informed her that the "V.C. is shooting at me" and that he really wanted to return to "the good old USA". "V.C." refered to the Viet Cong - the political and military (mainly guerrilla) resistance to the US and South Vietnamese government from within South Vietnam. The soldier expressed a degree of patriotism: "I love...my country, for this I don't mind dying".
