The song "Uncle Sam" (V-Tone Records # V-506) released in 1963, by the girl group Sherwoods, out of Philadelphia, was a draft and soldier boy themed song. Narrated from the perspective of a soldier's sweetheart, she recalled that her "boyfriend got a letter". So she sung out "Uncle Sam, please don't take my boyfriend away". Eventually she accepted that he will have to go fight, and thus she asked Uncle Sam to "bring him back to my arms some day". Composed by Harry Moffitt and produced by Lenny Caldwell.
