About the artist
Jaime Brockett (born in Vermont) is an American folk singer of the New England circuit, best known for the thirteen-minute talking blues 'Legend of the U.S.S. Titanic', an adaptation of a Leadbelly piece with a lyric he co-wrote with the young Chris Smither. He ran away from home in his mid-teens for Greenwich Village, worked as a tobacco harvester, rodeo rider, truck driver and carnival hand, settled for a time in Denver and then moved east to Boston as a full-time performer; in 1968 Broadside magazine named him its number one male performer and best new performer.
