About the artist
Johnny Holiday (real name Donald E. Watson) was an Ohio soul and rhythm-and-blues singer billed as 'Mr. Excitement', described as a powerful vocalist who could belt out material in the James Brown or Jackie Wilson manner. He grew up in Hillsboro, Ohio, worked the Youngstown club circuit from around 1963 through the late 1960s before returning to south-western Ohio, and later based himself in Massillon, working with the band Guardrail; in 1992 he cut an album and a single of contemporary country material under the stage name Dew Watson, formed from his initials.
