Set Calley Free Part I

Annotation

The song "Set Calley Free Part I" (Triangle Sound Inc. # TR 001) - a pro-Calley track, which sounded like a presidential campaign song.. Released by the obscure group Free Blue - unknown location and biography - the narrator argued that Calley "kills the way" the government / military "taught him", yet they "call him a murderer". At the end of the song, they posed the question: "is this the freedom we are all fighting for?" Thus it took the position that Calley did not bear responsibility for the massacre. The B-side song "Set Calley Free Part II", is very similar to the one above, but largely spoken word. Once again, the narrator compared Calley's situation to the story of Jesus: "crucified...nailed to a cross". The lyrics also suggested that the conviction of Calley undermined the US democratic system.
