About the artist
American folk singer, harmonica player and folklorist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Vietnam veteran: served as laundry and bath platoon leader, 96th Quartermaster Battalion, 1st Logistical Command, at Phan Rang, 1966-1967, and collected GI songs (MA thesis 'GI Folklore in Viet-Nam', University of Pennsylvania, 1969); his field recordings of servicemen's songs are held by the Library of Congress.
