Mambo artist Pérez Prado, born 11 December 1916, in Matanzas, Cuba. He died on 14 September 1989 in Ciudad de México, Mexico. He released the instrumental song "Saigon Twist" (RCA Victor # LPM-2524) in 1962, a very early reference to the South Vietnemse capital. Going by the name, this probably has nothing directly to do with the war, but rather a reference to the Western dance clubs in the city, and thus the US presence.
