Sodom, a Thrash Metal band formed in 1981, in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The group had a revolving line-up. This album featured Tom Angelripper (bass, vocals), Chris Witchhunter (drums), and Frank Gosdzik (guitar). They released a few Vietnam-related songs: "Persecution Mania" (1987) on Persecution Mania, "Agent Orange" and "Magic Dragon" (1989) on Agent Orange, "Capture the Flag" (1990) on Better Off Dead, and "Among the Weidcong" & "Napalm in the Morning" (2001) on M-16. The song "Persecution Mania" (Steamhammer # SH 0084) looked at a mercenary who returned to Vietnam to rescue the prisoners of war (P.O.W.), as well as describing the hell of war - like the Manowar song "Violence and Bloodshed" above, this song created imagery similar to the Vietnam War film Rambo: First Blood Part II. It started with a platoon "back" in the "jungles" with the task of finding the "missing captive, locked up in contaminated camps". The platoon encountered hostile fire, including nerve gas, but they found the prison camp and fought on in order "to do justice" for those that had died in the war. Suggested by SabbathBloodySabbath.
