Annotation — North Vietnamese Songs
Unknown date, but probably released in the war years on the Dihavina record label (# CKS 0004), originally the state label of North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam) before reunification in 1975. Several of the titles focused on socialism and the party: the song "Đảng là cuộc sống của tôi" ("The Communist Party, That's My Own Life"), and the song "Đảng cộng sản Việt Nam" ("Song Dedicated to the Vietnam Communist Party"), while several other titles dealt with national pride and patriotism, such as the song "Ta tự hào đi lên, ơi Việt Nam" ("Oh, Vietnam, Let's Go Ahead With Pride") - this one contains references to combat: "to the front we enter the battle... aim straight at the enemy and shoot". The song "Việt Nam quê hương tôi" ("Viet Nam, My Native Country") is a well-known composition, performed by many artists, such as Bolero Việt Nam artist Thanh Thúy. Male vocals here credited to Duy Tân, female to Thúy Hà. The narrator took a positive tone: "spring is coming", noting a successful crop: "sugar cane green tea, white cotton... green rice fields".
