Sodom, a heavy metal band formed in 1981, in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. The group had a revolving line-up. They released a few Vietnam-related songs: "Persecution Mania" (1987) on Persecution Mania, "Agent Orange" and "Magic Dragon" (1989) on Agent Orange, "Capture the Flag" (1990) on Better Off Dead, and "Among the Weidcong" & "Napalm in the Morning" (2001) on M-16. This thrash metal album was war-themed (Steamhammer # SPV 085-72442 CD), with several tracks focused on Vietnam. This included the song "Among the Weidcong" about "aggressive jungle war". The track "Napalm in the Morning" - a reference to the surfing scene in the film Apocalypse Now (1979), directed by the political liberal and dove Francis Ford Coppola. Captain Kilgore (Robert Duvall) of the Air Cavalry attacks a Vietcong held village while playing Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" on the loud speakers of his helicopter. Once on the ground, Kilgore strips of his shirt and scarf and prepares to go surfing with explosions and gunshots all around.
