The song "My Man in Vietnam" (A Bem Sole Record # 1005), by an obscure deep soul/funk singer Beulah Palmer, signed to a Los Angeles, California based record label, asked "Mr. President, Mr. Congressman" to "please stop the war from going on". Her man was in Vietnam, and she wanted him to return to the US safely. She also called for less "hatred and envy" and greater respect for the "races on this earth" - and so another Vietnam / Civil Rights / race relations track in the soul genre. She also warned against those with the "means to destroy the world".
