The song "My Baby's Gone Away" (Down to Earth Records # 71) released in 1970 by the Chymes (aka Chimes) - a US soul group from Chicago, featuring the harmonies of the three brothers Victor, David, and James Martin, also known as the Star-Tels. The Chymes were supported on this track by the Soul Crusaders, the house band of the Chicago label Lamarr run by Burgess and Walter Gardner (of which Down to Earth Records was a sub-label). (1) This song is concerned with a soldier "out of the army now, back from Vietnam", who revisits his old neighbourhood, only to discover that his girl has left him. He sadly sings that "she should have never let me go".
