Annotation — US Domestic Perspective Songs
The Ranchera song "Imploracion de un padre" ("Imploration of a Father") (Discos Nogales # DNLP-1001) looked at the home front perspective, with the father of a soldier narrating, missing his son, particularly at Christmas time. The song starts with the father kneeling before a cross, praying for his son, explaining that he fought in World War Two, but that "now a son of mine...is fighting in Vietnam". He then described how the son used to play war games as a child, and how the family enjoyed Christmas. The father concluded by saying that "there will be no dinner at Christmas". Not the picture sleeve of the LP, which showed a father praying, the soldier fighting in Vietnam, and an empty dinning table with a Christmas tree in the background. This song was also released on single: Imploracion de un padre (Discos Nogales # 45-1003).
