The song "I Promise I'll Wait" (Mercede Records # 2727) sung by Nancy, a young teenager, in which the narrator took the role of a soldier's sweetheart, hoping to see her man again. Nancy also released records under the names Nancy and Her Sixth Street Boogle and Nancy and the Kintwetts, but her surname is unknown. The label based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida apparently took its name from its building: The Mercede Building, 2727 East Oakland Park Boulevard. At the beginning of the song Nancy dedicated it to "all the prisoners of war and their families" - also written on the front cover of the picture sleeve. The label had printed on it "Nancy sings for P.O.W.". The narrator hoped to "meet again" her sweetheart and promised to "wait until then", and thus this looked at the impact of the war at home (in the US). Word, music, and arrangements by Billi Welles.
