Annotation
The song "Bring My Daddy Home" - released on Joe Averbach's Pittsburgh label Sonic (# 118) - looked at how the war affected the children of soldiers. Chuck Corby, a white Italian-American, born Charles Anthony Ciorra, he had a strong soul sounding voice. In this song a young girl's father had to leave to "fight in some war" - no mention of which war. The girl's "mama cries all through the day". So she said that she would "give you all my candy, all of my gum" - presumably to Uncle Sam or god - if whoever would "please bring my daddy home". At the end of the song the father returns from the war. The soldier recalled that his daughter "held me with a warm embrace" and that her "mama's happy now".
