Annotation — McGuire's "Eve of Destruction" & Answer Songs
Another song from the Spokesmen, "Better Days Are Yet to Come" (Decca # 31895), a follow-up to their single "The Dawn of Correction". Both songs featured on the album "The Dawn of Correction" (Decca # DL 4712). The Spokesmen were an American garage rock group, made up of John Medora, David White Tucker (of the band Danny & The Juniors) and Roy Gilmore. Again, this can be seen as anser to McGuire's "Eve of Destruction", with the title providing a more positive, alternative take: "there's rejection, insurrection, there's defection... listen to me everyone...better days are yet to come". It also contained a pro-Civil Rights reference: "integration, liberation now on its way".
