Annotation
The easy listening song "A Ballad From Vietnam (The Rain on the Leaves)" (Decca Records # 31883) from 1965. It was originally written by Vietnamese songwriter Phạm Duy, and translated by Steve Addis of the folk duo Addiss and Crofut (they later released the song in 1966: "A Ballad From Vietnam"). Billboard reported on 18 December 1965: "Marking the Decca debut of the Gang, this powerful ballad with strong lyric content has the earmarks of a smash hit". The song considered both those that made it back home and those that didn't:
