Rolando Alarcón, born on 5 August 1929 in Sewell, Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, Chile. He died on 4 February 1973 at the age of 43. He was member of the Chilean folk group Conjunto Cuncumén. A key member of the Nueva canción latinoamericana in Chile, he was highly respected in Chile, an influential folklorist and composer. This album Por Cuba y Vietnam (Tiempo # VBP-286) ("For Cuba and Vietnam") was split into two sides, with the A-side dedicated to Cuba, the B-side related to the Vietnam War. The original was released in Chile, but was also released in Argentina (Peña Indoamericana # P.I. 5004) and Italy (Joker # SM 3455). It contained the songs: B1: "Las doradas colinas de Binh Thuan" ("The Golden Hills Of Binh Thuan") B2: "Hermano, hermano... llorarás" ("Brother, brother...You Will Cry") B3: "Su nombre puede ponerse en verso (Ho Chi Min)" ("Your Name Can Be Put In Verse (Ho Chi Min)") B4: "Algun dia Viet-Nam" ("Someday Viet-Nam") B5: "Cueca Por Viet-Nam" ("Briefs By Viet-Nam")
