Annotation
Chris Butler, former lead singer and guitarist of the 1980s New Wave band The Waitresses, lived in Kent, Ohio, in the 1960s and 1970s. This album of spoken-word recordings and songs centred on that theme, capturing daily life in the college town. The final song "Beggar's Bullets" (Future Fossil) focused on a group who students who went on a road trip to Cleveland to attend a Grateful Dead concert. After returning to Kent, the narrator sold his guitar, and then his drums to Jeffrey Miller, who "didn't get to play them much" because three weeks later "he was shot and killed by the Ohio National Guard".123
