Ernest Dawkins, avant-garde jazz musician, born 2 November 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, he is a member of Chicago’s Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians.1 He released this powerful political protest album for the 35th anniversary of the "Chicago Seven" trial, regarding the demonstrations outside the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The 79-minute, live, jazz instrumentation featuring spoken-word poetry by Khari B, summarized the story, which particularly focused on Bobby Seale being separated at the trial from the other seven white high-profile protesters arrested and charged, thus making a strong point about racism and Civil Rights in the US.2 The song "Misconception Part 1" (Dawk Music # 04) set the scene of the demonstrations, as: "Agent Orange delusions that rode the wind in from a burning Vietnam". Agent Orange is a reference to the herbicide / defoliant used by the US, which had long-term negative health effects, especially found in 80s and post-war songs. It noted that Richard J. Daley and the system allowed the police to indiscriminately attack the protesters. It concluded with eight indictments: "seven plus one". Sources1jazztimes.com…
