Annotation — Blues songs

Bo Diddley, famous Electric Blues artist, also associated with Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll, born Ellas Otha Bates, on 30 December 1928 in McComb, Mississippi, USA. He released the Cold War track "Mr. Khrushchev" (Checker Records # LP 2984) released just as the Vietnam War was building up, another interesting reflection of the contemporary period which creates context for later, specific Vietnam War songs. The title of course referred to the Russia leader, Никита Хрущев [Nikita Khrushchev], and the lyrics reference the US president, John F. Kennedy. In this case, the narrator wanted to go to war, "I want to go overseas, I want to see Khrushchev", in order to hep the president, "JFK can't do it by his self".
