Soundtrack to the 1969 Australian-made Vietnam War film You Can't See 'round Corners, directed by Sydney, Australian-born David Cahill.1 The composer, Tommy Tycho, was born on 11 April 1928 in Budapest, Hungary. Of Jewish heritage, his family were put into camps during World War Two. After the war, he fled, first to Iran (1948-51), and then emigrated to Australia (1951). He died on 4 April 2013 in Sydney, NSW, Australia. The film was based on the 1947 novel of the same name, "You Can't See 'Round Corners", by Australian author, John Clearly, but updated to the Vietnam War.2 There was also a television version, broadcast in Australia, from 12 July 1967, also going by the same name, set during the Vietnam War.3 It tells the story of Frankie McCoy from Newtown, Sydney, drafted during the Vietnam War, and trying to sleep with his girlfriend before they are married. It included scenes of basic training at Kapooka, near Wagga Wagga. This album contained the songs "Army Training" and "Awol" (Festival Records # SFL-933,141).Sources1Wikipedia: You Can't See 'round Corners↩2Wikipedia: You Can't See 'Round Corners↩3Wikipedia: You Can't See 'Round Corners (TV series)↩
