Public Enemy, a popular and well-known East Coast Hip Hop group, with strong political & social-economic commentary, formed in 1985 in Roosevelt, New York, USA, including the members Chuck D, Flavor Flav, Terminator X, and Professor Griff - several of their songs referenced the Vietnam War, including "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" (1988), "Welcome to the Terrordome" (1989), and "Resurrection" (1998).The song "Welcome to the Terrordome" (Def Jam Recordings # 44-73135), released as a single in 1989, but featured on the 1990 album Fear of a Black Planet (Def Jam Recordings # CK 45413) is an early example of Hip Hop artists using Vietnam as a metaphor for conflict: "Droppin' a bomb, brain game, intellectual Vietnam".
