Larry J. Butler (born 27 March 1932 in Belton, Texas; died 14 May 2017, aged 85) was a Texas country songwriter and musician whose career ran for more than sixty years and who was known within the Texas country community for his long association with the Country Gentlemen of Cut-N-Shoot, Texas, which he joined in the 1950s; he played countless shows with the best-known names in the music and appeared with Willie Nelson only weeks before his death.
