The song "Welcome Me Home" (Sandbag Records # S102) from 1967 looks at the returning soldier. Little is known of the artist Jim Jackson - signed to the New York based label Sandbag - who screams his way through this soulful track. It was composed by Jackson, produced by Mike Symansky (who founded the label), and arranged by Richard Bobeuf. The narrator, having returned home, wants to re-start his life: "I'll be your loving husband and you can be my lovely wife". But he needs help to "forget all about Vietnam" because of its horrors, which he recalls: "lonely days" in a "rotten, god forsaken place".
