About the artist

Rodd Keith (born Rodney Keith Eskelin, 30 January 1937; died 15 December 1974 on the Hollywood Freeway in Los Angeles, aged 37) was the most celebrated of the American song-poem singers, a prolific multi-instrumentalist, arranger, songwriter and vocalist who cut hundreds of sides for Sandy Stanton's Film City label, for Clarence Freed's Preview Records of Hollywood during his most productive late-1960s period, and latterly for Maury S. Rosen's MSR Records; he was the father of the avant-garde saxophonist Ellery Eskelin. "Vietnam Sweetheart", a setting of a lyric by the song-poet Irene Dollar…
