Annotation
Formed in January 1977, and originally disbanded in the same year, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, it members included Chris Arnett (guitar, vocals), Werner Von Hitler [Jon Werner] (bass), Malcolm Malcolm (bass, vocals, 1977), Jim Walker (drums, 1977), and Taylor Little (drums, 2007-present). They were said to be "Vancouver’s first punk band", playing gigs that year in 1977, which inspired other well-known bands from that city, including D.O.A. and The Subhumans. (1) (2). The group re-united in 1997, releasing this Punk Rock album, containing the song "Vietnam" (# FU1), which noted the contemporary conflict waging at the time: "now we're going to Iraq, everything is getting out of wack". The narrator reminded the listener that "Vietnam kicked the ass of Uncle Sam", and that it's "Ho Chi Minh City now that Saigon's gone", recalling the collapse of South Vietnam in 1975. The lyrics discussed the inequality in those making the decisions and those fighting: "the rich sent the poor to die for their fucked up ideology".

The Furies are generally cited as Vancouver, British Columbia's first punk band, coalescing in 1977 (first advertised show 30 July 1977) around Chris Arnett (guitar/vocals), Malcolm Hasman (bass), Jim Walker (drums) and Simon Werner (guitar); they played about nine shows before splitting, then reunited in 2007 and released a self-titled CD (FU1, Canada, 2007) whose track 7 is "Vietnam" - the anchor for this row.
