Donovan, born Donovan Philips Leitch on 10 May 1946 in Glasgow, United Kingdom, was a popular contemporary folk singer in the 1060s, and into the 70s. He released several war and Vietnam-related songs in the period, featured on this list, including three cover songs in 1965: "Do You Here Me Now", "Universal Soldier", and "The War Drags On". He also had two original compositions: "Ballad of a Crystal Man" (1966), and "To Susan on the West Coast Waiting" (1969). The song "To Susan on the West Coast Waiting" (Epic Records # 5-10434), narrated from the perspective of a soldier: "Andy in Vietnam fighting", criticised the leaders who drafted people into war: "I'd be... working at my craft had it not been for the draft"..
