About the artist
Seemon & Marijke was the recording name of Simon Posthuma (born 1 February 1939, Zaandam, Netherlands; died 28 February 2020) and Marijke Koger (born 6 November 1943, Amsterdam), founders of The Fool, the Amsterdam design collective famous for its Beatles work (Sgt. Pepper-era art, the Apple Boutique mural). "The Son Of America" is the B-side of their A&M single "I Saw You" (AT 10 835, 1971; also a promo flip of "Vegetable Stew", 1972). After The Fool's 1968 mural work for the Los Angeles production of Hair, Koger remained based in Los Angeles, and the A&M sessions were made with an LA cast…
