Jo Ann Garrett (born 3 March 1949 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American soul singer who came up through the Chicago club circuit as a teenager and was signed by Chess Records, which issued her debut single in the spring of 1966 to local success, before she recorded for Chess's Duo subsidiary in 1968 and withdrew from professional music while still in her twenties. "That Little Brown Letter", written and produced by Andre Williams, was issued on Duo D-7454 in 1968, backed with 'I've Gotta Be Loved', a Billy Butler song. [Source: Discogs]
