About the artist
Merritt Herring (dates unestablished) was an American folk singer and guitarist of the 1960s San Francisco Bay Area folk revival, remembered as a fine traditional singer with an unusually generous manner and as the leader of a regular singing session at the Mill in Berkeley. He shared a bill with Alice Stuart at the Los Robles Lodge, Santa Rosa on 3 August 1965 for the American Folk Song Program of the Institute of Western American Culture, sponsored by Sonoma State College and the California Folklore Society, and six of his performances survive in the Bob Nelson Collection of Folk Music at…
