The song "Talk Me Some Sense" (RCA Victor # 47-8699) by country artist Bobby Bare, born 7 April 1935, in Ironton, Ohio, who spent much of his career on the Nashville, Tennessee scene, presented a patriotic and anti-protest perspective, especially turning his attention to songwriters: "heard enough of your talk about the world... you sing songs of agitation... your preachin' friend is a great big waste of time", a response to McGuire's "Eve of Destruction", often sarcastically referred to as a "prophet" by his opponents.
