'Honest John' Trotter (born 3 December 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas; died 19 May 1976 in Abilene, Texas, aged 47) was an American country radio personality, credited with originating the first helicopter traffic reports while working in Hollywood in 1958; he acquired the nickname 'Honest John' in Houston, where a mayoral race he contested was close enough to require a recount, and he took the Gavin Award in 1965 and again in 1967, with a further commendation from President Johnson in 1966.
