Annotation
The song "A Soldier's Christmas" (Showboat # 1511) dealt with soldiers and Christmas in general, rather than specifically refering to the Vietnam War. But its release coincided with an increase in US military involvement in South East Asia, and thus included in this list. Released in Santa Claus, Tennessee on Ray Scrivner's Showboat record label.

John Thomas Slate (Johnny Slate, born 1937 or 1938 in Clarksville, Tennessee; died 24 July 2015 at Madison, Tennessee, aged 77, of cancer) was an American songwriter, publisher, producer and artist manager who spent more than forty years in the Nashville music industry. A BMI writer with Triple Play and Million Performance awards, he had songs cut by Johnny Cash, George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Rogers, Ringo Starr and Razzy Bailey; he founded Out of Slate Music, ran Windchime Music and Sandstorm Music with Larry Henley, opened Warner Brothers' Nashville publishing office, and…
