The song "Santa, Bring My Daddy Home for Christmas" (Metromedia Records # MM-154), sung by the African-American 7-year old child star Marc Copage, of NBC's television program Julia, contained elements of patriotism, mixed with concern for the plight of the soldier and the family left behind. In the TV program, Julia, played by Diahann Carroll, was a single mother, whose fighter pilot husband died in Vietnam. (1) (2) (3) The magazine Ebony reported in December 1969 that Copage would feature as the poster boy of the Christmas Seal Campaign to fight lung disease. (4) Copage narrated the song from the perspective of a child whose father was fighting in Vietnam "to keep our country free". The child told Santa that his "daddy is a very important man of the United States army".
