Michael Lizzmore, who performed under the stage name Blase, was an American soul singer and songwriter who moved from Jacksonville, Florida to New York City at the age of seventeen to pursue a career in entertainment; he sang at the Tip Top Nite Club in Brooklyn, won first prize at the Apollo Theater four weeks in succession on the advice of his idol Jackie Wilson, for whom he also wrote songs, and was signed to Capitol Records through the management of Phi-Mar Productions.
