Michael Blessing - otherwise known as Michael Nesmith from the group The Monkees, born on 30 December 1942 in Houston, Texas, USA, and currently based in California - performed as a solo artist on this 1965 single. The track "The New Recruit" (Colpix Records # CP-787) was a cover of the Tom Paxton satirical song "The Willing Conscript" about a draftee off to war, who wanted to learn how to kill in order to fulfill his duty.
