Joey Welz (Joseph W. Welzant, born 17 March 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American pianist, keyboardist, songwriter, producer and label owner, best known for his tenure as pianist with Bill Haley & His Comets from 1963 to 1966, which he joined on leaving the military after having worked as a recording engineer for the Armed Forces Network in Berlin. He began performing in the 1950s with the Jay Rockers, recorded across rockabilly, rock and roll and country for Bat, Leedle, Palmer, Canadian-American and Music City, and became owner and chief executive of Canadian-American Records and…
