Johnny Deerfield (real name Ronald Jay Hargrave, born 8 November 1929 in Brooklyn, New York; died 16 May 2023 in Camarillo, California, aged 93) was an American singer, songwriter, ukulele player and actor who came up through the 1950s rock and roll scene, co-writing material recorded by Jerry Lee Lewis including 'High School Confidential' and appearing in the 1956 film 'Dance With Me Henry', before recording pop and country sides under the Deerfield name and building a substantial singles following in Japan; in old age he was a familiar figure playing impromptu ukulele sets around Ventura…
