Another draft song was the Masqueraders' "Let's Face Facts" (Wand Records # WND 1168) - later covered by James Carr, discussed below. The Masqueraders were a vocal soul group formed in Dallas, Texas, in 1958, featuring Robert Wrightsil, Charlie Moore, Lee Jones, Harold Thomas, David Sanders - Thomas and Jones composed this song. It was produced by Chips Moman. Recorded at American Studios in Memphis, it was leased or sold to the New York based Wand. (1) The narrator had been drafted to fight the war. Although he "don't wanna go", the narrator displayed loyalty to the country and acceptance of the laws: "I've got to do my part". The narrator wanted his sweetheart to "be strong" because he still wanted her "to be mine", and that "pretty soon this war is gonna be over".
