Annotation
The song "Keep Your Mind Open" (Epic Records # BN 26304) by this Los Angeles psychedelic band took an anti-war approach, and most probably anti-Vietnam War, although it did not specifically mention that conflict. With a very psychedelic sound, using varied instruments, such as a bouzouki, they recorded the song at Columbia Square, Los Angeles, November-December 1966, and subsequently released it in June 1967. Kaleidoscope were an American psychedelic folk group formed in 1966 out of the Los Angeles folk-club circuit, whose shifting line-up included David Lindley, Solomon Feldthouse, Chris Darrow, Chester Crill and John Vidican, and which was noted for its use of Middle Eastern and Balkan instruments alongside American string-band idioms. The group recorded four albums and several singles for Epic Records between 1966 and 1970, contributed to the 'Zabriskie Point' soundtrack in 1969 and split up soon afterwards, with reunion albums following in 1976 and 1990.
