About the artist
Joe West was an American country singer and songwriter who led Joe West & the Fifth Wheels, a truck-driving country act that cut at least three singles for Rimrock Records of Concord, Arkansas in the late 1960s, among them 'Just Me, This Old Truck, And My Lord' and 'Long White Line'. "I Died in Vietnam", which West wrote himself and which was published by Oleta, was issued on Rimrock RS-310 in 1969 backed with 'A Truck Brought It'; the label credits the Fifth Wheels but the picture sleeve names West alone.
